The warriors
encounter little resistance to the rest of their attacks and quickly
the castle where Raevil grew up was clear of Gripir's allies. Raevil
remained in the dining hall, after Gripir's body was removed, to
coordinate the attack and to recieve the reports. The men sent to scour
the lower levels find several prisoners in the dungeons and bring them
before Raevil. He recognizes two of them instantly as his friends. One
is the only living heir to an isle assaulted by Gripir's men, the other
is a minor noble of a smaller town who fostered at the castle and had
returned to see Raevil at the funeral.
They appeared to have been tortured, but were mainly
unhurt and after cleaning themselves up, were ready to assist in the
new coronation. They contacted the remaining nobles of the isles and
together they all crowned Raevil the sovereign of the entire norse
nation. The isles taken by Gripir swore their loyalty to the new king,
the isles who had been spared Gripir's wrath also swore fealty to King
Raevil, and the people rejoiced for their new king.
After accepting the position and making right the thefts
of Gripir from the people, Raevil announces his intention to return to
the valley and expand the kingdom further into the continent. He leaves
the elders and nobles of the isles to govern in his name and makes his
foster-brother the Castellan of the Castle, to keep Vikare free in his
absence.

Raevil returns
to the valley with his ally, Vertin, and begins to plan the advances of
his forces into the surrounding territories. When the season is right,
he sets the paths of the raiding parties to push on borders he is
already wearing on. Vertin's people seeing the advantages in allying
with the norse help them to overtake the tribes of the northern
mountains and drive them into the hills. With the combined might and
knowledge of Raevil and Vertin they are able to take the coastal
regions of the country to the borders of the dwarven kingdom. To the
east they follow the mountains and find little break in the stony
shore, but to the west they set up settlements and displace Parans
until they are driven from the coasts all together.
From the city of Raeville, King Raevil spreads his force
across the continent. The southern tribes, pushed farther south by the
displaced northern Parans, are forced to leave the woods and set their
sights on the Great Valley of the Vaaga. They begin a seige that lasts
for twenty years, finally ending in the sacking of Vaagaris City and
sending the Vaaga out in the world without a home.
This turn of events sets the Vaaga into a nomadic
existence that lasts for the next millenia, and leads them into the
dwarven lands, the orcish empire, and the bowels of the earth.
But that is the History of the Vaaga, a much different
tale.
